We were asked to inspect a number of trees at Greys Court for the National Trust. This very large English Oak was found to have a large cavity in the lower part of the main stem adjacent to its main structural fork. As the tree is next to the road and a neighbouring property we carried out a heavy pollard to reduce the risk of whole tree failure. Reducing the tree from around 25m in height to a 6m twin stemmed pollard.
The tree is approx 200 years old and will now, hopefully see in another 50+ years. The larger sections of timber were milled by Steve Jefferies at Willow Pond Mobile Sawmills Wpmobilesawmills.co.uk to produce planks and lumber for the National trust to use on outdoor building projects around Greys Court.
